Quality and Affordable Water Service for the Future

Central Arkansas Water’s direct customer base encompasses approximately 121,500 homes, businesses, and industries in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, Wrightsville, Alexander, Cammack Village, and unincorporated areas of Pulaski County. Our utility also sells water on a master-metered or “wholesale” basis to the neighboring cities of Jacksonville, Bryant, and Shannon Hills, as well as North Pulaski Waterworks Association and Brushy Island Water Users Association. We have signed service agreements with the city of Cabot, Sardis Water Association, and Saline County Water & Sewer Public Facilities Board and expect to become a supplier for the three entities in the near future. We currently provide treated water for a population of 398,000.

Our water utility also is a core partner with 26 other systems in the Mid-Arkansas Water Alliance (MAWA). The charge of the Alliance is to identify and gain the additional water needed for our customers for the next 50 years. Assisting the cities and water user groups in this regional initiative are the Little Rock District Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Arkansas Soil and Water Conservation Commission, and the Ouachita River Water District.

Cities and communities in the mid-Arkansas region recognize the considerable economic benefit of pooling our planning and financial resources to reach the common goal of assuring quality and affordable water service for generations to come. In addition to Central Arkansas Water, current members of the Alliance include the:
