John Braune, retired businessman, led one of the largest direct marketing companies in Arkansas for twenty- three years of continuous growth. Prior to settling in Arkansas with his wife Kathy, son, Jonathan and daughter, Paige, he served with the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation through Special Olympics in New York as a volunteer on the Board of Directors in New York; President/CEO in Virginia and then California as well as National Sports Program Director at the International headquarters. While in New York, he served as the Director for the Chapman School for Exceptional Children. His nonprofit career focused on the management and development of programs/rights for the developmentally disabled.
His civic activities focused on his involvement as active parent volunteer and coach at Jr. Deputy Baseball, Ms. Selma’s School, member of the Warrior Advisory Board at Little Rock Christian Academy, and member of the Fellowship Bible Church. Past President and long time member of the Central Arkansas Salvation Army and the Past President of the Harbor East Homeowners Association at Mtn. Harbor.
His educational background includes a Bachelors Degree in Education from Herbert H. Lehman College of the City of New York; Masters Degree in Special Education of the same institution and Post Graduate studies concluding with a Professional Diploma (PD) from Fordham University in Management and Supervision. Commissioner Braune is a Little Rock representative on the CAW Board.
