LITTLE ROCK – The Board of Commissioners, Central Arkansas Water (CAW), will be accepting letters of interest and resumes beginning December 10, 2017, to fill the upcoming vacancy for a Little Rock representative on the water board. For consideration, an applicant must be a Little Rock resident and must submit a letter of interest and résumé to the Board by 12 p.m. noon Thursday, December 28, 2017.
The governing board has seven members who serve seven-year terms. In accordance with Ark. Code Ann. § 25-20-301, the Board must consist of four residents of Little Rock and three residents of North Little Rock. The current vacancy follows the resignation of Commissioner John Braune, a Little Rock Board representative. The appointee for the existing vacancy will fulfill the remaining 2.5 years of Braune’s 7-year term beginning February 15, 2018 and ending June 30, 2020.
CAW is the largest water supplier in the state of Arkansas and serves the Little Rock-North Little Rock metropolitan area. The utility has a retail and wholesale service population of approximately 400,000 in Central Arkansas. The water commissioners have full and complete authority to manage, operate, improve, extend, and maintain the water works and distribution system. The Board also has full and complete charge of the system’s water plan.
