LITTLE ROCK — Central Arkansas Water (CAW) is joining public water systems across the United States in celebrating Drinking Water Week 2017 May 8 – 12. During Drinking Water Week, CAW is inviting water consumers, school children, public officials, and the general public to learn about the importance of safe drinking water to everyday quality of life and to reflect on the high quality of water service that central Arkansas enjoys.
CAW will be highlighting the National Drinking Water Week theme “Your Water – To Know It Is To Love It” by hosting public awareness and education events throughout the week at its downtown Little Rock office on Capitol Avenue, North Little Rock City Services location on Main Street in North Little Rock, and the Maumelle Office in Maumelle. Among these activities will be the feature event kick-off “Water’s Extreme Journey”, a 1,500-square-foot maze at the Little Rock Zoo, in addition to water educational activities for local elementary students at the utility’s Jack H. Wilson Water Treatment Plant.
Water’s Extreme Journey at the Little Rock Zoo:
“Providing safe, high-quality drinking water to over 450,000 people in central Arkansas is an important part of public health,” said Doug Shackelford, Director of Public Affairs and Communications. “We would like to invite everyone to join us to celebrate Drinking Water Week and highlight the vital role that water plays on our daily lives.”
