Central Arkansas Water (CAW) will host a public workshop to identify and evaluate the water quality compatibility of current and potential recreation activities for Lake Maumelle, Lake Winona, and adjacent CAW property. All recreation activities must be consistent with CAW’s mission of providing high quality drinking water to the citizens of Central Arkansas and with Pulaski County watershed regulations.
CAW has received requests to expand recreation activities at both lakes. CAW commissioned the development of a recreation management plan as a strategic approach to minimize impacts to the quality of the water and evaluate the recreational needs of the Central Arkansas community that uses the lakes and surrounding CAW property.
CAW invites interested members of the public to attend a public workshop to discuss opportunities and parameters for recreation at Lake Maumelle, Lake Winona, and on CAW owned lands. The public workshop will occur on Thursday, August 27, from 6-8 pm at the Winfield United Methodist Church located at 20100 Cantrell Road, Little Rock 72223. All comments will be considered in developing the recreation management plan.
CAW has retained Kleinschmidt Associates to assist in facilitating the public workshop and preparing the recreation management plan.
