CAW earns third consecutive national accounting and financial reporting award

LITTLE ROCK — Central Arkansas Water’s (CAW) Finance Section has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada.  The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents another significant accomplishment for the utility.


CAW earned the Certificate of Achievement for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for fiscal year 2011.  Criteria for earning the award include a demonstration of transparency and constructive disclosure of the utility’s revenue requirements for operations, maintenance, and capital improvements, as well as the sources and uses of ratepayer funds.  The utility was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 2010 and 2009 fiscal year reporting as well.   “We are very pleased to receive this award now for the third consecutive year,” shares Gary Pittman, the utility’s Chief Financial Officer.  CAW’s financial officers are Gary Pittman, Chief Financial Officer, Controllers Deena Coston, C.P.A., and Jeff Mascagni, C.P.A.


Central Arkansas Water is the largest water supplier in the State of Arkansas.  Its retail and wholesale service area encompasses approximately 123,000 residential, commercial, industrial, and wholesale customers.
