LITTLE ROCK – Central Arkansas Water has partnered with the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission to conduct a selective timber harvest along Highway 10 in the Bufflehead Bay area along the south shore of Lake Maumelle. The activity began Thursday, November 1, and will continue throughout the month. The selective harvest is a continuation of sustainable timber management activites in this area, including completion of a controlled burn on the property in 2011. The harvesting will incorporate the Arkansas Forestry Commission’s best management practices for water quality protection. The selective harvest and use of forestry best management practices is part of continued efforts by CAW to implement the recommendations from the Lake Maumelle Watershed Management Plan in order to maintain a high quality drinking source for 400,000 consumers throughout the region.
