Central Arkansas Water to Unveil Rain Barrel Project during Earth Day Celebration at the Little Rock Zoo

LITTLE ROCK — Central Arkansas Water (CAW), in conjunction with Hawkins Weir Engineers, Inc., The University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, and the Little Rock Zoo, will unveil a new Rain Barrel Demonstration Project during the Earth Day Celebration at the Little Rock Zoo, on Saturday, April 14, 2012.

The Rain Barrel Project was designed to educate consumers on one simple way they can help their household and community through Wise Water Use.  Rain barrels collect and store rain water from roof tops that would otherwise be lost to runoff.  The use of collected rain water is a cost-effective alternative to irrigate household and outdoor plants, wash automobiles and other outdoor items, etc.

Representatives leading the Rain Barrel Project will be available at the Central Arkansas Water exhibit area of the Earth Day Celebration to answer media and consumer questions from 11 a.m. until noon on April 14.
