LITTLE ROCK — Water, our most precious natural resource, is fundamental to the physical and economic health of cities and communities. It plays a vital role in daily activities ranging from refreshment and recreation, to disease prevention, and protection from fire.
This week, the Board of Commissioners and employees of Central Arkansas Water (CAW) are joining public water systems across the United States in celebrating Drinking Water Week 2011. During the observance, which runs from May 2-8, the local utility is inviting water consumers, school children, public officials, and the general public to participate by taking a moment to focus on how important safe drinking water is to everyday quality of life and reflect on the high quality of water service that the metropolitan area enjoys.
CAW’s theme for this year is “Celebrating Our Community & the Employees Who Proudly Serve You.” The focus of the observance is to appreciate the metropolitan community and the employees that work day and night to ensure that we continue to have the highest quality drinking water in the metropolitan area. Also, this is an opportunity to thank our customers for their support and contributions to protecting the long-term viability of our drinking water supplies.
