LITTLE ROCK — Central Arkansas Water (CAW) presented its third Annual Crystal Water Drop Award for Stakeholder of the Year to the League of Women Voters of Pulaski County.  This organization champions public policy education to enhance citizen participation.  As community leaders, the League of Women Voters is an active participant in endeavors to protect the source water quality of Lake Maumelle, the metropolitan community’s primary drinking water supply.

Graham W. Rich, P.E., BCEE, Chief Executive Officer, presented the award to Kathleen Olesen, representing the organization, during the utility’s Annual Stakeholders Meeting on May 24, 2011.  In presenting the special honor before a gathering of approximately 170 people at the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce Building, Rich noted that previously individuals were recipients of this award; however, the League of Women Voters of Pulaski County is the first group to receive this honor.

“The League of Women Voters taught me a great deal about the importance of community involvement to the utility,” Rich explains.  “This organization truly demonstrates a passion for policies that make a difference for the future of the citizens in Central Arkansas.”
